New to Android, just saying hello
New to the Android world and wanted to say hello. I've been an iPhone user from the beginning, but as of late, I'm not happy with the direction that Apple is going with the iPhone. The final straw for me has been the release of iOS 7. I'm tired of this small screen, unnecessary animations that slow everything down, and no freedom to customize my own user experience. The challenging part will be, I'm already invested in the Apple ecosystem - my iMac desktop houses all of my photos and my iTunes is storing all 43gb of my music. I realize that I'm not going to be able to just simply "sync up" with my Mac anymore. So I'm going to have to adjust and hopefully this forum will be able to help me through that part. I'm going to have to get used to using Cloud service.
I recently ordered a Moto X (Verizon) though MotoMaker, so I should be up and running on that in about a week. I did some really thorough research ... lot's of YouTube reviews, Android Central posts, and online reviews - finally decided that the Moto X would be the best choice for me (the Droid Maxx came in a very close 2nd place, but Moto X seemed the better fit).
The attitude and mindset that I'm trying to get ready for is, Android is not Apple. I really need to embrace that fact and give Android the chance that it deserves. In other words, I don't wanna go running for the hills to the safety and comfort of my iPhone as soon as something is unfamiliar and presents a learning curve. I want to give this plenty of time. I think it will be easy, simply because I'm just so burnt out on iOS anyway. So, I'm going in with as open of a mind as I can. I really believe that I'm ready now and I can't wait to start enjoying the Android world. I just hope it doesn't scare me off
