As for the iPhone to get a quad core made by Samsung, I've also heard similar rumors, also that it is based on a 28nm technology with LTE on chip which is what Apple has been waiting for. I don't see whats happening in the court rooms effecting their business dealings too heavily.
If you were getting sued by Apple, would you sell them your fastest chip...or anything at all? This would be a big marketing advantage Apple would have over everyone, and Samsung would suffer. Samsung would need to make a huge amount of money off of Apple to overlook the losses they were garner by selling this chip to Apple. Unless the legal department at Samsung struck a settlement with Apple over the various lawsuits in progress. But I seriously doubt it. The first company to release a quad core processor is going to get a huge uptick due to how good that will market, regardless of the performance increase. There is a huge demand for the "keeping up with the Jones" mentality.

The first actual device to have quad-core is the Asus Transformer Prime which will actually have 5 cores. It will run NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad core with an extra fifth core to smooth everything out.

i'm hoping for a good OMAP quad-core(own stock). They have to upgrade the GPU though, the SGX 540 they are currently using is fine for this year, but I think it'll start to show it's age if they try and pit it against Exynos and even Qualcomm (don't know about T3, how is it's GPU compared to the current Exynos?)

Since Ice Cream Sandwich is Honeycomb and Gingerbread, and Honeycomb was optimized for multi-cored Tablets and the Transformer Prime (quad-core) runs great on that and that's expecting an ICS updating, so of course this OS is ready for it.

Just a thought, why are you asking this question on a Android Forum? Iphone is already a long gone dead phone who's only survival is from die hard apple fans who has no idea that the rest of the world has moved on. Much of the Android community is well versed in the tech industry, asking a question about an iphone just makes me feel like your asking much like a troll would ask a question. Steve Jobs likes to sprinkle his precious iphone with fairy dust to make it seem magical to people, now he's dead I don't think it's going to happen at the current rate they are going with their idea of how people use their phones. Besides who needs a quad core for all those fart apps anyways, I'm sure there is better uses for these processors and that's where the Android comes in.
