Ipod got washed today, what to do....
I'm staying at my girlfriend's house while I wait to move to go back to college to finish up my degree (graduate in April, YAY). My girlfriend's mom in a very nice effort washed my pants... with my ipod that I had trouble finding. Now I'm trying to save it. I have it in a bag of rice outside in the sunlight (will bring it in tonight... I'm in florida, so no worry about snow, but it will get chilly tonight). Now, I had an ipod touch, that I loved, but got stolen. I got an android phone shortly afterwards, and for the most part, I don't really need the apps. I do have nike + and I use it with my nano 5th gen that I'm trying to save. I've also been buying a lot of blu-ray's with digital copy which I've been loading onto the ipod. So here are my options:
1) Get a new ipod touch which offers more than 16 gb of storage which I can better use for video and have Nike+ function back
2) Get another ipod nano, as they are cheaper and would less effect my wallet
3) Forget about the ipod (I am trying to move back away from apple entirely and jump on the win7 bandwagon) get a Zune
4) None of the above and just live with my phone as an mp3 player and running aid (i track using jog tracker and it works great on the Hero)
I wish I could have an app that was able to submit my jog info to nike+ as I just got the receiver, ipod and shoes around christmas time.

It didn't go in the dryer, but since the ipod doesn't actually turn off (it just goes to sleep, but can be woken up via dock connecter even when on hold), I think its toast. It didn't turn on today
I think I'm just going to get another nano, i have 12% off this week + $5 off at best buy, and its on sale. I think its a sign.
Update: Tried turning on the ipod today... and it turned on. It didn't stay on, and you could tell there was water on the screen, but it didn't fry! I submerged it back into the rice and have it under a lamp. Maybe a day or two more and I may have a functional ipod... trying to stay optimistic.

go to the apple website.. get a refurbished one. they are like half price.. keep it in rice and font try to power it up for a week. should have dunked it in rubbing alcohol right when you found it. helps displace and evaporate water. set it in the rice on your tv. the static electricity does some crazy stuff sometimes.Droid---[ROM] Bugless Beast V1.0, Nextheme, Bekit 800mhz kernel!

How old was your Nano? If it was less than 90 days old, and was purchased on a credit card, it's typically covered by your credit cards loss/protection insurance.
Personally, I never use my iPod anymore. I found the combination of the Droid, , Sleek Audio headphones, and music player, to be perfect. So I would vote for #4.
The Nano is a nice, small MP3 player though.
I got it as a gift for christmas
I've been using nike+ (i have jog tracker, and about to try my tracks), and I use it as an MP3 player in the car. As far as my Macbook, im about ready to get rid of this thing. Since 10.6, this damn thing has run like ****.

Maybe the person that gave it to you put it on a card? I would totally check in to it before 90 days passes. I used that on a camera lcd screen that cracked after I bought it and they (AMEX) reimbursed the full amount to my card.

Went to the local Apple store (none close to where I grew up, I kinda like this big city thing). They took a look at it, noticed it got wet (I couldn't find the white paper that turns red from ifixit, turns out its inside the 3.5mm jack). The guy was nice and replaced it free with a refurbished one. It seems to work just fine. Nice tech guy in the store... still won't buy their phone, and my next computer will be a Win7 device, but still, nice guy.
