Typing shorcuts

Quite by accident, I found out that if you type "ita" it changes it to "it's" automatically. I find this very useful since I rarely type "its" in a sentence.

The other day I typed some key combination and it changed it to "I'll", and I can't for the life of me repeat the key combo I did to do that. It's annoying to have to type "ill", and then tap the bar to make it go to "I'll".

I know this sounds very anal, and it is, and I am Does anyone know the "shortcuts" to make it type some of the more common contractions?

If it matters, I am using a Droid X, stock keyboard.

You may just keep having to change it for a while. I use Swype and that will happen most of the time but if I keep changing "I'll" to ill it will eventually just default to ill.
