Removing Emojis from Google Keyboard

After the latest Update, my Moto Turbo's Google keyboard replaced the punctuation that was on the line above the keyboard with those stupid emojis. I am an adult who communicates with the written English, and punctuation is far more important that yellow faces.

Is there some way to remove these, or is there a current keyboard app that does not need to predict or throw emojis into my text. I am very frustrated.

As a fellow adult, I couldn't agree more. This latest update is horrible, for many reasons...

I could get not get the emojis to show up when I have letter keys but only when I have number keys .
In settings go to Advanced and turn off the physical emojis that might work, on mine it doesn't make a difference.

I'm an extremely immature adult and I hate emojis, what the heck is this? Give me the numbers back.
At least now when we type in our passwords it thinks we are adults and removes the emojis, but not anywhere else.
