LG forgot to include the app in the 2.2.1 update. If you look at stock 2.1 ZV6-ZVC theres an apk labeled softwareupdater.apk its tied in with the system updates in settings.apk. However. LG forgot this app with 2.2.1 and didnt get it tied in to the settings app as they have done in previous versions. this is why this app is needed

Can anyone confirm if GingerBreak works for this update? If it does, I'll just copy the Optimus S/Optimus C guide over for easy rooting

NOTE: You may have to do

rm -r /data/local/tmp
mkdir /data/local/tmp

in order to push the files.

I can verify GingerBreak will root a ally running 2.2.2

I have it that the latest SuperOneClick will root 2.2.2 on Ally using the GingerBreak exploit.
