Nandroid backup too big

I'm doing a nandroid backup right now and it's over 7gb. Is there a way to make this smaller?

Delete some stuff off the phone first

Other than that, not really, you can ZIP/RAR/7z the nandroid up, but then to use it you have to uncompress it first which could be a problem if you can't access it via a PC or a functioning ROM.

Best bet is get a USB OTG cable and a 16-32 GB flash drive and backup/restore directly to it. TWRP 2.7.1.1 fully supports USB OTG.

I bought an 8gb flash drive, I should have got a bigger one. I can delete some stuff though.

Remember, nandroid is everything except internal storage (boot, system, data, cache, and EFS), one thing you can do is wipe cache and dalvik prior to backing up, it likely won't make a huge difference though.

I don't know. I only have 7.5gb free on my phone. I'm going to delete some stuff off the phone and redo it.
