Wandered into Carphone Warehouse and found to my dismay that they've reduced their unlocked sim-free price, already a good one, on the G3. Other phones are reduced. The Z2 is almost affordable. The Lumia 930 is almost cheap. The G2 and Lumia 1520 are giveaways. All this is hard to resist.
I suppose I ought really to be saying it's good news, but I've got three phones already.

It's a hard life we have. Imagine, affordable unlocked simfree phones. Add to that a sim only unlimited tethering unlimited everything plan for 23 quid on a 30 day account.

Not only that, but the network providers don't poke screwdrivers into customers' devices to disable this and that, as seems to happen...well, somewhere else.

Yeh in this aspect we have it pretty decent here in the UK. Also no carrier branding and boot up screens.

We almost have sympathy but like myself I'm stuck on slow broadband and slow mobile data access in regards to reported speeds from you lot across the pond.

I am can safely assume that of course there will be area's like mine in Scotland where you can't get LTE access.

I think it is possible for those carriers to speed up this process and let the rural parts have some fast connections.

I am paying for 4g access but can't get that here. It was part of my package and cheapest available at the time.

I do get a bit grrrr at seeing 25-100mbps speeds posted lol

Yes, the speed you quote is fast. I'm in SE England and lucky in my location to have a good 3G signal from the Three network. 4G is supposed to be coming later this year but I just hope that it doesn't give an overall worse signal than I'm getting now on 3G...I read somewhere of a user who found this to be the case.

Well I'm with EE and must say the connection is overall decent a majority of the time on H alot except my house where G is all I get (but use WiFi at home anyway) Three are shockingly poor where I live almost no signal anywhere surprised there are any three customers up here ( I highly doubt it lol)

Good luck with the switch :-)

Down from £479 to £450. There are other reductions. If you're tempted, don't look.

I'll just add this one: Lumia 930, down from £479 to £420.
I've bought all three of my current phones from Carphone and have had nothing but excelllent service from them.

All 3 phones now come unlocked and as I had an update to burn the phone was free. 3g H and H+ for the most part but the usual dead zones as is common in Scotland.

Unfortunately, there's no LTE here (I did some research, not T-Mobile's fault[not completely anyway)]. But the 3G is nice.

Wicell: I assume the speed test thing is an app, not a feature of the phone I haven't discovered? It looks mighty useful.

I just wanted Wicell's app (stamp of
    foot)!

£420, Duncan1982, for a Lumia 930! £450 for a Lumia 1520! This is bad. This is tempting. But I'd better not talk about WP here.

Out of the two I would opt for the 1520 and yes tempting.

But I don't like those live tiles.
