OK, maybe it's not the hint of the day, but I haven't had much "hint" inspiration for the last few days. This one is pretty good though :)

If you're using Lux to control your auto-brightness (see http://forums.androidcentral.com/lg-g4/543334-just-purchased-lux-help-screen-brightness.html ) you might have noticed that apps that have an option to go to full-bright when activated (like QuickPic) don't do that any more! How frustrating.

The reason is that Lux has effectively taken over the job, from whatever app, of adjusting the brightness for your phone.

Luckily, using Tasker ( https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...inglisch.android.taskerm&hl=en&token=snyoISbh -- a couple of bucks, well worth it ) you can create a recipe that will make use of the Lux plugin to adjust the brightness when certain apps are invoked, and then go back to Lux auto mode when the app closes.

UPDATE 7/11/2015: I've just tried out my Tasker recipe, and it no longer is working on the LG camera app! Geez. It works on other apps, but not the camera app. This is likely from a recent update to Tasker; it was working when I wrote my original thread. It's still good for Quickpic, Maps, Snapseed, etc.... just the LG Camera app is having issues.

The following screenshots should do the trick for you, but if you're new to Tasker you might need to hunt around for some Tasker help to make it all come together.

1) You'll need two Tasker tasks, one for turning up the brightness, and another one for re-enabling the Lux auto mode

2) When you add the Task, look under "plugins" for Lux.

3) The task for re-enabling the Lux auto mode is easy. Click the configuration icon, and...

4) Set "Turn automatic mode:" to "On". Also, although it's not shown in the screenshot, I also check "Force: Refresh backlight brightness?" so that the phone goes back to a nice level right away after the app is closed.

5) The task for setting brightness is more difficult. I decided I wanted it to go to 100% if the display was currently at 67% or more, and only adjust to 66% if the display was currently at less than 67%.

6) Set the "%BRIGHT" If statement to be > 170. Huh? Well display brightness, outside of Lux, is measured 0 to 255, so 170 is 2/3 brightness. We want to have Lux up the brightness to 100% if the display brightness is at 2/3 or more (greater than 170.)

7) Two steps to adjust the brightness; first turn off automatic mode.

8) And then set the manual brightness to 100.

9) If the display is less than 171 (out of 255), I have another Lux adjust to just 66% brightness. (The screenshot shows this being done at "less than 170", but I've changed it since to "less than 171".)

10) The final step is to attach the two tasks as Entry and Exit tasks for a set of applications. After you make changes to your profile, turn it off and on again to make sure it's in place.
