I've had the G4 for a few weeks longer then most, but my leather is already starting to look really rough. It's not a huge deal because I can just replace the backplate, but am I alone here? Sound off if your leather G4 has already started to show signs of wear.

Wow. People say it will age, and show signs of use, which is to be expected. But that seems a bit extreme, given how long the phone has been out. Sure, you can replace it, but that's pretty expensive to do on a regular basis.

What happened to it, to cause those?

I'm not sure what happened to cause the biggest gash, but some of this comes from being dropped on bricks by accident. The corners are just normal daily use though.

At least that helps explain the big stuff :) Sorry to hear that the corners are from normal use, though.

I just ordered a red leather back via the July promo, so hopefully I'll get a chance to see how durable they are. I've been using a case with my plastic back.

I have a clear case on mine but that goes against having the leather in the first place. If you have to cover it, just get the plastic. I hate having it covered

I'm pretty certain that "dropping any phone on bricks by accident" will show severe signs of wear regardless of the type of back cover.
Guessing this instance is not a good cross section or comparison for most.

What we really need is a months normal usage wear comparison vs someone who dropped it on bricks....!

All 4 corners of mine are starting to wear bit otherwise doing good. The stitching still looks great which I thought would be the first to go

Doesn't really help unless we know which back you have.

Seems the black is holding up better. Got my phone one day after release day. Don't have a case on it. Did drop in a bed of rocks once and caused a nick though hard to see. Carry the phone in my pocket, back pocket most of the time and shirt pocket at work (uniform). Corners are perfect. Here are the pics (first picture is crop of second picture, showing rock damage). Had to take off the back to take pictures haha.
