Recover Pics From An SD Card

I am hoping to recover some photos off of my SD card. I previously used my 4gb sd card in a Blackberry Z10 and have switched to a LG G4 about a month ago. My pictures first showed up on the SD card but I was unable to see them as it said file type was unsupported. Now the SD card shows nothing at all and says it needs to be formatted. When I put it in my PC it says the same thing, that it needs to be formatted.

I see there are a ton of recovery software options but nothing seems to be working. Maybe because I haven't deleted it? Will formatting delete my files? Do I have any other options?

Hoping that someone has experience with this. I have pictures of my baby I really don't want to lose :/ Thank you.

Welcome to Android Central! Formatting will erase all of the data, so don't do that yet. When you insert the card into the computer, see if you can run chkdsk, to look for bad sectors: http://forums.androidcentral.com/am...guide-using-chkdsk-fix-corrupted-sd-card.html

If that doesn't work, then you could try some file recovery programs, but they're not always very successful: http://forums.androidcentral.com/am...-s/500142-guide-recovering-deleted-files.html. In the future, make it a habit to backup your important photos on a regular basis, or use Google Photos Auto Backup.
