LG G4 Bluetooth to my car's hands buzzes, drops, resynchs - unusable

I have a bluetooth hands-free device installed in my car. My LG G4 H815L running Android 6.0 can't keep a stable, usable connection to the hands-free, but my Samsung Galaxy I19500 and my Apple S5 work fine.

I submitted the LG to warranty repair, but they found no problem testing against several bluetooth headsets. The supplier of the handsfree device says that they know this behavior but do not have a solution. It happens with certain LG and Apple devices.

What happens: the phone connects to the handsfree and everything is stable until a call happens. Then a terrible buzzing noise happens, the bluetooth connection drops (but not the call), and then they reconnect. This happens continually. The only workaround is to turn off the phone's bluetooth and make the call using the phone's internal speaker.

This started recently, probably after the upgrade to Android 6.0.
