Mic dosnt work when recording a video or just voice

So my lg optimus l90s mic will not work when i am recording a video or doing a voice recording and when i make or receive calls i have to have it on speaker or the person on the other end will not hear me can someone please help!?

Welcome to Android Central! Check to see if the primary phone mic is blocked by anything (like lint, or an ill-fitting case). If the opening for the mic is clear, then it may be that the mic has failed. Speakerphone often uses a secondary mic, which would explain why people can still hear you that way.
