Considering trading in my Samsung GS3 for the Lg Optimus G...
I like the GS3, but the build quality is just kind of cheap to me. Way too plastic-y
I played with the Optimus G today in store, and it felt and looked a bit more premium.
It was also INCREDIBLY fast... everything was instant. I was impressed.
Looks like I can probably get $350 or so for my GS3 and the Optimus G is on craigslist and sites now for $400... so that's not too bad of an "upgrade"
Am I stupid in making such a decision? GS3 is so proven and successful and already has Jelly Bean... who knows how long until LG Optimus G gets it.

Re: Considering trading in my Samsung GS3 for the Lg Optimus G...
I am looking at something similar....still on the fence.
The camera is worse on the G, and a big one for me is developer support. I am not sure where that is gonna go. I know it is rooted but the bootloader is an unknown.
I am gonna stick with the proven SGS3 I think or go for the Note 2

Re: Considering trading in my Samsung GS3 for the Lg Optimus G...
I messed with the Sprint Optimus G camera in store and really didn't see it as any worse than the GS3
My main concerns are that it's unproven and battery life.
-
Re: Considering trading in my Samsung GS3 for the Lg Optimus G...
I have not messed with it at all, but every review says it is worse than the GS3.
Unproven I can understand, battery life I would not worry about. It will be as good if not better than that SG3

Re: Considering trading in my Samsung GS3 for the Lg Optimus G...
I definitely have not read any reviews saying it's worse than the GS3.....
This is the best comparison of the phones I've seen:

Read the Android central Review....
EDIT: even the one you posted said this:
Even though it’s a close race in the still image department, when it comes to high-definition 1080p video recording, Sammy’s flagship shows us that it’s the more preferable device for the occasion. Winning in almost every noteworthy area, Sammy’s smartphone delivers the goods with its more crisp details – whereas it’s a bit more faint and soft with the LG Optimus G. Furthermore, LG’s offering is plagued by more heavy artifacting when panning.

Re: Considering trading in my Samsung GS3 for the Lg Optimus G...
Wirefly still has both the OG and the GS3 for $150 when renewing the contract.

Re: Considering trading in my Samsung GS3 for the Lg Optimus G...
Agreed, I want something built a little better with a premium feel and look to it... and the Optimus G trumps the GS3 in this department.
Not in a major rush though, so any input I can find on forums or online will be key

See I disagree. I think the sgs has a better look. Yeah the feel could be better, but I care more about the inside instead of the outside, as long as it isn't hideous like the g'zone

The LG Optimus G has a better exterior and has better software/equipment inside... so you kind of lost me there

Re: Considering trading in my Samsung GS3 for the Lg Optimus G...
I had the optimus g and took it back and got the gs3. The main reason is because the camera on the g is really bad. One other reason is the lack of exposure the g has. There are no good cases or accessory items. I had to go to three at&t stores to find the optimus g even available for sale. I will say it was blazing fast, had a great feel and the software ui is nice but I could not get past the two things I mentioned above.

Re: Considering trading in my Samsung GS3 for the Lg Optimus G...
that's a great point... it definitely does not have the exposure. i think that goes understated when buying a phone...
i guess i just get bored with technology and always want to be trying something new. with that said, I'd say the GS3 will have better resell value going into 2013 than the Optimus G would... just goes to show you how prominent the GS3 is

Re: Considering trading in my Samsung GS3 for the Lg Optimus G...
I know this is the wrong way to go sorta, but I bet on eBay you can find a ton of accessories for the butterfly.
Yes the resell for the sgs3 is going to be much higher

Re: Considering trading in my Samsung GS3 for the Lg Optimus G...
I know how you feel, that was the main reason I wanted the Optimus g since it had the latest and greatest s4 pro processor and 2GB of ram. More phones will be coming out with this soon I know the new HTC DNA has the same specs, and I am sure many more will follow from other high profile brands like Samsung, Motorola etc... I wanted to give LG a shot with this phone but the camera was sub par and I could never find any cases other then two crappy ones from At&t who wanted to charge $40 for them. Maybe others would feel that the camera is decent it will vary by users opinions. It was also a little disappointing that it came with 4.0.4. I have heard LG is saying it will release 4.1 in December, but if they where going to do that I am not sure why they just didn't wait another month to release it to the public with 4.1.
But yes the GS3 will have a lot better resale value then the LG would that's for sure.

Re: Considering trading in my Samsung GS3 for the Lg Optimus G...
I got my OG last friday. I really don't get the opinion that the camera is bad. In my opinion it definately isnt bad. Is it perfect? well, I'm not a photographer, but Its certainly better than the one on my epic touch, I havent seen the camera on the GS3 so I cant compare that. I was worried about the accessories too, but I've seen a lot more cases coming out in the last few days. The phone was just released for sprint 3 days ago!
I'm enjoying to phone so far. The build quality feels great and even the skin is good. Definately a worthy upgrade from the epic touch!

Re: Considering trading in my Samsung GS3 for the Lg Optimus G...
i just signed up to write this review. I got the SG3 two months ago and was happy with it for the first week until I started playing games with it. SG3 is not built for games--its sluggish, it has that green tint (i guess that's samsung's HD'ng it) on it that I don't like. The screen heats up very easily and at times its hell when you're playing racings games. The gyroscpe just doesnt respond to well with racings games like (asphalt 7 and real racing). jelly bean on SG3 is a bad idea. The phone keeps on freezing, the battery is terrible and lots of apps like VIBER (which i use alot) crashes. The camera is great but its slow when it comes to taking pictures. Its made out of plastic--(good luck with dropping the phone
Enter the OPTIMUS G that i just traded my SG3 with. The phone is fast-- the screen is just awesome--the screen does not heat up like the SG3's screen and its more responsive when touched (good for playing games). The phone does not feel cheap-- and its strong build to it. I haven't had a crash on any of the apps that I use regularly-- esp viber, tango, skype ( people have actually noticed the difference).
Jelly Bean on Optimus G runs so well and the battery lasts for a day even with heavy gaming.
:cool::cool::cool:
You might think 32 GB is small but-- its actually more than enough-- I have about 1000 songs, 10 games, and lots of pics and videos on my phone and i only used about 10 GB--
OPTIMUS G all the way
