Lock screen status bar clock

This is kind of a minor thing, but maybe there are some obsessive people here who will understand. I am getting the Optimus G, it looks to be an immense upgrade from my Nexus S and I am very excited. But one thing I notice is that on my current phone, when you are on the lock screen with the giant clock, the status bar automatically hides the time, so that you don't have redundant clocks. Is there any way to make this happen on a non-Nexus phone without rooting?

You know what, that didn't bother me until you mentioned it. There are some times there is no big clock on the lock screen and no status bar. I think it happens when I don't do a succesful unlock.

I just turned off the lock screen, problem solved I guess :/
