Check out the accessories sub-forum. There are ebay batteries that can be found for a very reasonable price but there are a large number of different types of optimus phones so I'd recommend checking the battery thread to find out which sellers have batteries that truly work for the opt S.

Supposedly the ebay batteries are typically sourced from the same chinese plants that supply OEM's (and/or 3rd party battery companies like mugen). If that's true or not, I don't know. I would just recommend going with a seller that others have confirmed good results with.

They charge you $100 for water damage and won't give you a battery?

Agreed, that seems ridiculous that they wouldn't ship a battery. The problem with those cheap batteries is that they ship from HongKong and it usually takes a couple weeks to receive them.

They only give you a battery if they are replacing the phone with a different model than the one that was lost/stolen/damaged. It's Asurion.

It's a $50 deductible. It's looking like I'll spend about another $7-$8 on a new battery. So $58 to replace the phone is better than nothing for me.

The price of the battery seem reasonable - considering the wide market of venders selling phone accessories. I had bought a few batteries at cheap prices and they are working fine. Just make sure it's the right one for your device, if in doubt send a message to the seller.

    Good luck.

Thanks for the replies- sounds like batteries are just cheap nowadays- great! Sorry for the bandwidth on this topic- I should have posted to the accessories sub-forum.

My experience with cheap ebay replacement LI-ION batteries is that they work fine but have a shorter lifespan (will hold less charge sooner than the OEM battery). Most of my experience has been with digital cameras though. When I get them they work great, but after a year or so i'm down to being able to take only a couple dozen pics on a charge. The original battery didn't have that problem until like 3 years of age. But, even after half a dozen battery orders, I'm still ahead of the game money wise, so I'm not complaining (~$30+S/H for a new battery, $5 shipped for a pair of generics). I'd rather buy batteries twice as often at a quarter the cost, just got to stay proactive.

That should be the OEM battery...they do take PayPal, which is usually the easiest way to get a refund if there is an issue.

Unfortunately I had a bad, bad time with PayPal years ago when someone ripped me off. Anyway, I don't have a PayPal account. Was just wondering if anyone had tried this battery. I still can't believe this phone has been out this long and it is so hard to find a REAL Extended battery that works.

I thought this phone would get better battery life than my Hero, but it really is not much better. I have everything off too except background data.

Hmmm, bought the updated version of this (still LG P500 with KGIP 400N, instead of their new listing for the LS670 with the exact same KGIP 400N for a couple dollars more...actually looks like they have updated the LG P500 to the same price as the LS670)

The batteries have square edges and thus don't fit. =(

Has anyone else run into this problem from this seller with this order?

That is exactly what happened to me, got the square corners, seller swore up and down it fit the phone and would not give me a refund, i finally just disputed with paypal and ebay and they gave me my money back within an hr... make sure u ask the seller if it is round or square corners because i ordered from another seller and theh were goos, weird thing is both had the same labels on the bat.

glitchsta, which seller did you successfully buy from?

As for the seller/link I posted above, they did offer me a refund when I noted that it didn't fit. I first asked them to give me a battery that fit because all their pictures showed a rounded edged battery. They claimed something was wrong with their production and they were all the same squared ones like I received. So they eventually gave me a full refund. I thought about whittling the edges down, but the plastic encasing doesn't seem very thick.

I'm really confused, but I'll share what I've gathered so far.
I went a head and e-mailed Mugen about their 1800mah battery and the Optimus S/Vs and here's their response
--please do not reply below this line--

    Thank you for your email!

Our HLI-400NSL is compatible to work on LG Optimus S via Sprint & LG Optimus V via Tmobile.

Other than getting the V's network wrong, they still specifically say that it should fit. I'm requesting more information, but in the mean time, any ideas?

I picked up two online from ebay....

For $18 you get two batteries and an external charger. The batteries have the rounded ends and fit perfectly. They say they are 1600mah. I'm not sure about that but after a week of use they seem to be holding up as well as the original battery (first two days they seemed to discharge quicker).

The charger they sent me had a broken pin and did not work but they quickly replaced it with another one that works.

All in all I am very happy with it
