[ROM][WIP] Unofficial CM7 (Gingerbread) - 8/19/2011
After much work and a lot of headaches I have finally managed to compile some code. This is a work in progress and by no means complete. That means not everything is working. I will try my best to keep this up, but keep in mind that I do not get a whole lot of time to work on it and I will not be able to do nightly builds. I will have updates when available. Most of those updates may be simple CM syncing and others may have fixes to any bugs we identify. With that being said:
Credits:
CyanogenMod Team - does anything else need to be said?
blarf of CyanogenMod Forums - for helping with compile errors
zefie - for his original work on CM7 port for the OS
mik_os - because he started it all
aosp - for moral support.
All of the above were greatly helpful in making this happen. If I forgot anyone please let me know so that I can add you.
This is Android 2.3.4 using Xionia v014 kernel for now.
How to Install
1. You must have some form of ClockWork Recovery (I use Xionia recovery)
2. Make a Nandroid Backup - This should always be done before flashing anything
2. Wipe Everything!! This means go to mounts and storage menu and format boot, data, system, and cache
3. Flash ROM
4. Flash Gapps
5. Reboot
Your first boot will take a bit so don't get scared because it is taking so long. Mine took about 8 minutes the first time.
7/4/11 Change Log:
- Added missing file in order to make wifi work. Synced with CM Sources.
7/9/11 Change Log:
- Ringer through speaker now.
- In-call headset sound issue fixed.
- LCD Density now in build.prop for easy editing.
- Video Recording and Playback fixed.
- Theme Chooser.
7/15/11 Change Log:
- Honestly not sure, lol. Looks like blarf did some general cleanup and was working on a couple of audio issues. Other than that this should be synced up to latest CM trees.
If link doesn't work for some reason let me know and I will post it elsewhere.
8/19/2011 Change Log (Final Build - maybe, lol):
- I did not check the change log from IHO sources. You can go to inferiorhumanorgans github and there is a wiki there with information on this build. The wiki also lists common issues that are currently being worked on. This is a straight build from blarf's source with no modifications. I do know that the ability to reset data in the settings has been removed and this is using Drew's Xionia kernel. I read somewhere that there may be possible GPS issues, but have not tried it myself to see.
- Synced with latest CM source.
Now for the link!

This is possibly the last build I do for CM. I am working on a 'pure' Gingerbread ROM and making some headway finally so I want to devote all of my time to that.Last edited by ath3nos; 08-19-2011 at 07:43 AM. Reason: Update!

Cool! This can be beneficial for a lot of people. I can't wait to see what you and the other devs have in store when (if ever) the official drops for our phone. Lol. Even the simplest things with compiling and signing can prove to provide valuable lessons. Lmao. Good job getting it going! I'll be sure to give it a try if I ever get some free time.

No Problem. Like I said it is a work in progress. The camera works, but I just noticed that if you take a picture with any sort of zoom, a green line shows up on the left hand side of the picture. The line is thicker at higher zoom levels. Hopefully others will give this a shot so that I can start making a list of things.

I see the green line on the bottom not the side. Only in zoom. Want us to just start naming bugs as we find them? I flashed with a format on system and cache. Left my data. So far so good and ill test what I can when I can.
Wifi is working for me NP. Will test bt soon. GPS working. Everything listed in op working. FM starts up and can select station but no sound.Last edited by hamagc; 07-03-2011 at 08:17 PM.

Re: [ROM][WIP] Unofficial CM7 (Gingerbread)
I always love when a new ROM drops. Always an excuse to mess with my phone.
My wi-fi is not working.
I don't even know how to use BT, so I am no help there.
EDIT: When I am in lighting to take a picture, I will report on the green line.
I will post other bugs as I find them. Thanks a million! - 07-03-2011, 09:28 PM #13
748 which I assume is default. Did.t change it. Also wiped everything, flashed, then restored data partition from my 2.3.3 build. Seems to like it much better.
That's odd. Don't know why my wifi is working (Posting from it now) and it hooked up NP. Bt stereo is working but I think it may sound a little funny. Will have to test more later. Bt phone gives no mic or sound.
Wifi AP is working via the built-in hotspot
Would logs help anywhere?Last edited by hamagc; 07-03-2011 at 09:37 PM.

Default speed should be 600. I think it has something to do with restoring your data. Logs for the BT stuff would greatly help. I wont get a chance to look at anything until tomorrow sometime. Thanks for testing. Also, would you be willing to try wiping everything and not restoring your data to see if you can replicate my problems and also check bt that way? Thanks.

Just wanted to say I flashed this rom a while ago and followed what hamagc did, and my wifi is also working.

So I flashed it gave it a try, while I would love working CM7 I gotta have my fully functional wifi.
Either way keep at it, I look forward to progress.Swiss cheese android; the aged stuff, with huge holes.

Re: [ROM][WIP] Unofficial CM7 (Gingerbread)
All this hard work... I think this thing deserves a name. And a version number. It would also make it easy for us to keep up with the progress of it. Plus its great to say something like "I'm running the newest '(insert name of Rom here) cm7' on my optimus"

Re: [ROM][WIP] Unofficial CM7 (Gingerbread)
I think you should name it how you named the .zip. You snuck in RC0 (release candidate 0, I am assuming) CM7. I say something like that.

Re: [ROM][WIP] Unofficial CM7 (Gingerbread)
Ahhh. Well, I think it just looks more official in a way. Thats just my 2 cents.
Also, when receiving SMS/MMS messages, my vibrate does not work. Known issue? It didn't seem to work on Zelfie's CM7 either. - 07-04-2011, 09:31 AM
