Switching between roms without messing up my apps?

Every time I run CM7 and Reborn ROM for example and restore into either of them, all my apps will be showing, but without their icons and they won't work. Is there a way to fix this without the need to reinstall them again?

But the recommend is o just re-install everything, sorry

Or just restore a nandroid of rom your going to be using at the time

I do that. Every time restore the backups some of the apps won't work afterwards.

Don't mean to bump, but I figured something out.
I used Link2sd on Reborn ROM and moved all my apps to the sd card that way.
Then on CM7 I used the move apps feature and moved them with that.
Now when I boot into either of them my apps are just fine and I don't need to reinstall the apps

Cool! Good on you for taking it upon yourself and figuring it out for your particular case. There were great suggestions here and you figured out what worked for you. And thanks for posting your solution for anyone that follows and may want to do the same thing! Thanks Catboy!
