This guide is for installing Stock/Custom Recovery for the LG Optimus S using a 100% automated script.
Included are stock LG recoveries (ZV8-ZVD) and Xionia CWMA 12518.6 as well as a mechanism to install a user-provided recovery.

This assumes you are ALREADY ROOTED.

See this post for how to root your phone:
http://forums.androidcentral.com/lg...70zvd-zvh-100-automated-no-revert-needed.html

0) Backup anything important
With this particular procedure there is very little chance something bad will happen, but it is good practice to backup before making any changes.

1) Pre-requisites Checklist
SD card is INSERTED
USB Debugging is ENABLED - [Menu->Settings->Applications->Development->USB debugging]
USB Storage Mode is OFF - [Drag down the notification bar and tap on "USB Connected"]
LG USB/Android drivers are INSTALLED - [See Reference Section D1 (below)]
Phone is connected to USB port and recognized

2) Download the Optimus recovery install package
NEW: Even easier self-extractor for windows (Just run .exe - SKIP Unzip and Step #3) [optirec-sfx.exe]
Download the Optimus recovery install package [optirec.zip]
UNZIP to top-level directory of your C: drive

3) Run the Optimus recovery install package
From PC command prompt, run "runfirst":
(if you have an aversion to typing, you can use file explorer to navigate to C:\optirec and double-click on RUNFIRST.bat)
c:
cd \optirec
runfirst

4) You are DONE!
To boot into recovery:
Method #1:
[Power] OFF phone
Press AND Hold [Power] [VolDwn] [Home] UNTIL you see the Recovery Menu

Method #1:
adb reboot recovery

Reference Section

A) Resources
a1) LG LS670 drivers [USB][Android]

B) ALTERNATE - manual install instructions (substitute for Step #3)
Install the rooting files to the phone and start adb shell
Windows
c:
cd \optirec
install
adb shell
Linux - (install ADB on your own, unzip the copy2sd directory to your adb tools directory)
adb push copy2sd /sdcard/
adb push copy2sd-img /sdcard/
adb shell

All the scripts follow the same general pattern. Open an adb shell session to your phone and choose the scripts that match what you want installed (do not type the $ and # symbols)
$ su
# cd /sdcard/000root
# /system/bin/sh install-recovery-xionia.sh
# /system/bin/sh install-recovery-hydro.sh
# /system/bin/sh install-recovery-v8.sh
# /system/bin/sh install-recovery-v9.sh
# /system/bin/sh install-recovery-vc.sh
# /system/bin/sh install-recovery-vd.sh
# /system/bin/sh install-recovery-vh.sh
# exit
$ exit

If someone has a phone/pc handy appreciate if they could test and give feedback.

I have linux mint. I was going to try your script but wasn't sure if I could just run the RUNFIRST.bat from command line. Also I'm on Hydro rom beta, can I run your program to install say zvh recovery then run it again to put xonix back on? Just thought I would try to help test your program but not sure if I can.

In the manual install section of the 2nd post, I added some commands for Linux.

I know this is posted under the optimus s section, but will this work for optimus v as well?
If what you want to install are the recoveries listed, then it should work in theory (Optimus S ZV8-ZVD, Xionia, Team Hydro CWM5)

The button mappings might be for Optimus S though if the V is different.

You do need to be rooted with SuperUser installed.

I found this utility for flashing back to stock recovery from thunderc, since the zvj update is right around the corner, but i found a problem after reboot, home button unlocks screen, but doesnt work to go to home screen. I am using the latest version of adw ex, rooted stock 2.2.2 zvd, didnt have any problems with my home button until after using this utility.

I don't think your issue is with the tool itself, all it is doing is automating the task of running flash_image and copying files.

Also the tool is installing recovery, not the kernel, so it should really have no effect on your rom.

Worked great on my Optimus S running ZVJ. Great idea, and great program. I submitted this thread as a news tip. ;)

Mediafire files have been removed. So can someone add new links please? I love this phone. Trying to do a custom recovery. Thank you.
