Discontinued I think wonder if I can hit up gannon to take on development as soon as I learn more about this stuff

That would be nice if its OK with gannon, I would suggest you ask for his 4.0 miui this would be awesome build !

You could try being patient while waiting for a response. Personally I absolutely HATE when I get multiple PMs in multiple forums all asking for one thing, I'm pretty sure gannon feels the same way.

Try deleting and re-downloading the rom. Do a complete wipe by formatting /system, /data, /boot and /cache. Then try flashing the new rom.

Error status 7 has something to do with a faulty rom. And if noone else is getting this error, then it's the download.
