Maybe some want to keep Swype in the ROM, but I couldn't live with the old version, so I used System ROM Toolbox (free app, needs root) to delete the Swype package. Then installed the newest one directly from Swype. So there's a solution for those who want the newer version.

Will GB themes work on this ROM (without issue)? I really liked the "reTouched-GB" theme that I used on my last ROM and would love to use it on your ROM....

Will the "" that is an add-on for HydroROM work on this ROM, as well? I just realized that (unlike my ZVD rom) the four front-facing buttons will bring up the lock screen (from sleep mode) and I'd like to disable that, so it's only the power button brings it out of sleep.

Sorry to ask another question, but is anyone else having issues with GPS navigation in Maps?

The only way Google Maps will locate me is if I enable Wireless Networks (which I don't want to do, for privacy reasons--I think Google knows too much about us already ). Once I uncheck Wireless Networks (even while still having GPS enabled), Google Maps says it can't find my location. Is this a issue with the ROM that it can't find location via GPS only?

Note: I updated Google Maps before testing this, so I'm on the current version.

I was able to fix the issue by installing the GPS fix V3 posted in another thread. Big thanks to Buddlespit for the fix!!!

To install:
1. Download .zip file to root of SD card.
2. Boot into recovery and choose 'install zip from sd card'
3. Select 'choose zip from sd card'
3. Select 'gps-fix.v3_signed.zip'
4. Select 'yes' on next screen.
5. Hit back arrow until main menu and select 'reboot system now'
Enjoy!

This fixed my issue (and also holds last known GPS location, so it will work indoors, too). This is a great option for people who don't want to enable the 'wireless networks' location feature (since doing so means you also agree to share the location info with Google)

Human Stupidity: Didn't read stickies, unrooted ZVH, Updated to ZVJ. Had to roll back, re-root, then update.

Data connectivity issues: Could not connect to data. Flashed HydroKernGB, Updated profile/PRL, still couldn't connect. Reboot-Reboot-Reboot, no issues now(guess it needed to do it's boot maintenance).

Now, to fix that ugly as sin android boot logo. Thanks for putting the nice LG one in place of the sprint one for me. Saved me a flash/wipe/boot.

Now, FoxFi, I can't get to work. Went back to Wireless Tether for Root(still have the apk for it on cloud backup and hard backup on a flash at home).

All in all, lovin' this rom. Thanks, man!

I always rather liked the simple android boot animation, but to each their own. The sprint one always bugged me, hence why I replaced it.

I kinda pushed myself to get this rom up and running as my day job is slow in the winter and quite frantic in the summer. Hard to find the time right now to work on minor issues. The rom is very stable, so big changes will be slow to come over the next little bit.

As for foxfi, this phone is no longer activated for me so I cannot test, but worked flawless for me when I still had data to pull from. Does it no longer work for anyone?

It could have just been me on the FoxFi. I'm not used to it, so may not have set it up right.

It is VERY stable, and I love it. The launcher, the customizable dock, everything here is so much nicer than gROM I was running for so long.

So far, I don't see anything that needs fixing. It could just be me. Maybe dirty flashing it on top of itself would fix my connectivity issues? Could have been something as small as one bit not flashing proper on the radio. Stuff happens.

After a week of using, I think the ROM is great overall, but I have noticed two issues (which may be ZVJ issues and not ROM specific)

1. Both of my emails (GMail & IMAP email) randomly stop synching. Only when I open the mail apps does it then re-sync--and often stops synching again within a few hours. (I've seen this listed as an issue on HydroROM too though, so I'm guessing is ZVJ? If so, I can't believe Sprint dropped yet another buggy version!)

2. There is about a 2-3 second lag between hitting the microphone button and when the microphone starts recording. This is a big pain for me because I really prefer to 'talk' texts rather than type them and the long lag gets very frustrating.

Is anyone else experiencing these problems?

The sync issue is zvj or gingerbread itself related. Not sure about fixing that. Jstntp was working on it but don't know if it is still in the works.

As for voice input I believe it is data related as it must connect to the translation servers before activating.

I had been using HydroRom for the past 6 months or so. Yesterday, seemingly randomly, my phone lost its data connection and I couldn't get it back. I messed around for a little bit, and then decided if I was going to wipe data and start over I may as well try out this rom.

I did a fresh wipe, installing both a new version of HydroKernal and this ROM...had 3G for a few minutes but at some point while setting up the phone it went away and I can't get it back. (Wifi is ok)

I thought this has something to do with the Baseband/Build version...but I checked when I had HydroRom before I flashed this rom, and after, and my SW version is LS670ZVJ (baseband LS670MVJ_6150). And HydroRom was working for a few months with no issues.

Before I start guessing further...can anyone give me the steps I should take to troubleshoot this issue?

Yes, in fact, I might suggest that you post in the hydroROM thread. I say that because, if anyone else has your same issue, they would look there for the solution.

Well i debated that...but since flashed this rom in hopes to kill two birds with one stone...wipe clean in hopes to fix the data connection and update my rom I decided to post here.

I tried to update my profile a few times both on the HydroROM and on this rom...it failed every time (Client error please try again later). Toggling airplane mode doesn't seem to make a difference either.

Could it be that you got a new phone and activated it? This sounds like what happened to my optimus when I activated my evo. Could that be what happened to you?

- In January I updated to ZVJ and installed HydroRom. This worked nearly flawlessly up until this week. (Every once in a while I did have to Reboot or update my profile to get data to work...but this was rare...so much so I never thought twice of it)
- This week I lost data all together on HydroRom. I tried the usual reboot etc with no luck and figured I needed to resort to a fresh start - clean wipe.
- Since I was started fresh I decided to install DanteRom instead. Crossing my fingers and hoping that this would solve my data issue.
- 3G did show up initially on the first boot of the new rom...but before I even finished re-installing my apps and setting up my phone it disappears and I can't get it to come back.
- Everything seems to work over Wifi - and I have no issues with phone calls and messaging.

- I am leaning towards going all the way back to reinstalling the Baseband but want to make sure I do this correctly as I am not really sure the steps/order I need to take to do this.

So you are thinking this may be a Sprint issue? I haven't activated a new phone on my number...but we did add another phone (and activated) to our plan this month.

You said you updated to zvj in January. But it was not released until April. My guess is you are running zvh baseband (disregard what "about phone" says as the is part of the build.prop and thus rom specific). You had no issues at the time because then hydro rom had yet to update to the zvj baseband. Then at some point you updated your rom of hydro version not even realizing you had a baseband miss match as they are so similar they will largely run on opposing base bands.

If my logic here is acurrate, you need to follow the automated rooting tool in the stickies to install zvj and retain root.

Use this if you want to upgrade to zvj

Now that all sounds like what my gut was telling me the issue was...but I needed someone smart to confirm.

However I do remember using the tool in the thread you linked to before I went from Reborn to HydroRom...so either I did it wrong and have my months confused, or I tried it at some point after I installed HydroRom for the first time thinking I was upgrading and it never really worked.

Do I follow all the steps (A-E) in order to get updated to ZVJ. And then reinstall the Rom and Kernal?

Any problems with using Titanium backup to reload apps and some data (voicemails, text messages etc) after that.

Dude, that link I gave you is the bible to root you on zvj, and should overwrite all my suggestions. Coming from rooted zvh you will install the package from sfhubs guide, choose option b and follow the guide and the prompts from the root tool. If you are at ALL unsure post in that thread as they will be best able to help.

BTW the thread I posted is NOT the stickied guide but the correct tool it directs you to for zvj. Just posted its direct link for you. That may be where you went wrong before.

Titanium backup up should be fine, just NO system apps or data. And please verify everything is working before using it. In fact I would recommend you create a nand backup and trying to restore once you are on zvj rooted. That SHOULD work just fine. Worse case you need to just wipe and perform a fresh rom flash.
