The Wonderful roms of the optimus s
Idea blantely stolen from ilikechicken
This is so newcomers don't actually post new threads such as best rom and stuff like that
Let's start the list with
froyo roms:
1. Reborn rom
Probs:small battery drain
Daily use:yup
Stable? Yup
Details: one of the best its REALLY reliable and I experience no problems whatsoever except battery getting hot and small battery drain
2.srom
Probs:nothing
Daily use:yup
Stable? :thumbup:
Details: based off stock froyo and is customized to be fast and reliable froyo rom
3. Shell rom
Probs:nothing
Daily use: yup
Stable:yup
Details:gives you a nice Google experience on froyo without extra junk
Gingerbread roms:
1.ginger rom
Probs:nothing
Stable? Yup
Daily use: yup
Details:based off of the stock zvj and customized for performance and stability and has hydro kernel packed into it and has all sprint bloat removed
2. Hydro rom
Probs:nada
Stable? Of course
Daily use:yup
Details: this is most peoples rom of choice due to stability and speed. It is based off of android 2.3.3 zvj. One of the most stable roms as it includes the hydro kernel so its really fast!
3:Your Mom Rom
Stable:oh ya
Daily use:yup
Probs:nothing
Details: Based off the android 2.3.3 zvh source. Can still be flashed on zvj/zvd. Its a stable rom and is built for performance. Good for newcomers
Cm7:
1. The kravens cm7
Stable:yes
Daily use:yup
Probs:nothing
Details: this cm7 is highly customizable. Adw is packed into it (removable) its really quick rom that's excellent for people just starting to flash roms I recommend to all users
2.Magpie
Stable:yes
Daily use:yup
Probs:nothing
Details: this is a cm7 built from iho ( Inferior Human Organs) source. It has apps2ext built in. Apps2ext is a handy mod that moves apps to your ext partition. It also has tvall's kernel built in making it silky smooth. And doesn't have adw has launcher 2 basicly stock gingerbread launcher
3.Mirage rom
Stable:yes
Daily use:yes
Probs:none
Details: this is mirage rom a very lightweight rom. Its silky smooth due to mrg666's kernel. Its highly customizable and recommended for all flashaholics. Located in the lg optimus v section but theres an optimus s patch that can be flashed after flashing the rom.
4. SiZzLiNg JeLlYbEaN
Stable:yes
Daily use:of course
Probs: none
Details: a themed cm7.2 made by me to look like jellybean. Its zippy quick and has mirages kernel due to his rom being the base. I have discontinued you can find it in the archived rooting roms and hacks.
Cm9:
Thekravens cm9
Stable:almost completely
Daily use: for most but not for some
Probs: very minimal probs but can be found in his thread
Details: this is a quick zippy ics rom for the lg optimus s. It has the kravens cm9 kernel included.
Apps2ext built in due to little space our phone has. Most peoples rom of choice due to the quickness and customization it has to offer. A highly recommended rom
Tdm's cm9
Stable:just about
Daily use: yes
Probs: YouTube high quality,deep sleep,wireless tether
Details: this is a rom by tdm originally made for the lg optimus v but has now made for lg optimus s,v, lg marquee,lg optimus m,c, and lg vortex. It is really customizable and fast. It is built off of the cyanogenmod source which makes it a port and a good one at that. It has apps2ext built in for the little space on our phones. I'm using it now.
Tdm's aokp
Stable:getting there
Daily use:its acceptable
Probs:YouTube and everything his cm9 has
Details: this is aokp which means its crazy on the customize scale. It has all the features cm9 has and more due to the aokp settings
Jellybean:
Drews cm10
Stable:nope
Daily use:nope
Probs:mms,camera,Google now,Google ears,no apps2ext so its too large and has no space,Launcher not made for this phone
Details: its jellybean well cm10 but is not suited for daily use. Its a very large zip so not that slim
My jellybean/bobzhome
Stable:getting there
Probs:camera almost works fully but not quite,Google now almost works,mms
Daily use:for some
Details: this is a slim cm10 as it is 79 mb. Its really quick and boot anima sick

One little correction: you don't NEED an ext partition to run my magpie rom. You only need it if you want to move apps to it. It runs fine without it.

Believe it or not, it's $20 if you go into a Sprint store and get one. It's free if you buy it from Sprint online, from BestBuy and from Radioshack. Go figure. The only thing I can figure is that Sprint wants to shut down their store fronts. Every time I walk into one of my local stores, there are fewer and fewer employees and less and less furniture...
