Sorry if this seems redundent, but will this also remove the custom recovery? I am having major data issues and may be taking phone in for service so will need to be at true factory state. If so are there any posts out there that walkthru the kdz method of unrooting?

The links do not work please use one of the following tools:
LG update tool
KDZ
KP500
all above tools will force flash your phone to a warranty approved firmware, and instructions can be found here. - 08-10-2011, 12:14 PM #264

Re: [How-To] Unroot your phone and return to stock
To be honest,
this post is old and confusing.
without pulling my hair out and slamming the phone against the wall i figured it out.
use the simple unroot method here [How-To] Simplified UNROOT and return to STOCK, download the recovery and other img, put it on your SD, adb in and flash those, then u have to force flash the phone into VD or whatever u want using this here [How-to] Revert to LS670V9, after installing OTA LS670VC/VD, using KP500 (Diag mode)
then after its all done, go into the settings, privacy and factory reset the phone.
then its finally done!
If you think i helped you, please click the Thanks button on the right

Re: [How-To] Unroot your phone and return to stock
I suggest you try this:
[How-To] Simplified UNROOT and return to STOCK - 10-26-2011, 03:07 AM #274
Failed at Going stock and Unrooting.
Ultimate Fail. I did everything, but I must have failed at something. I think I'm bricked, but its a weird brick, so I thought that I would share it with you. I didn't get any errors while flashing the recovery image using the command prompt, and the sound of old sprint boot logo cricketing made me feel safe, until I saw that I saw nothing. The screen was black. I waiting in merciless horror only to watch as my optimus boot looped back to the LG screen and into the blank bootscreen. I took out the battery and tried putting it into recover. It looked like it was going to work, seeing as it made no sprint logo screen noise... and I waited. No recovery. No bootloop. Just a black recovery. Interestingly enough though, if I were to hit the menu button or the home key twice, the phone reboots. Hitting any other key does nothing. Also while I am in "recovery" the device is recognized in adb, but that is where ALL hope seems to end.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools>adb shell
- exec '/system/bin/sh' failed: No such file or directory (2) -
Obviously I screwed up, but could someone tell me where? Thanks! (I'm ordering a new optimus off ebay Thursday and just replacing the guts.) Hope this can be identified, laughed at, and never done again. - 10-26-2011, 08:57 AM #275
Re: [How-To] Unroot your phone and return to stock
You didn't screw up. You have a newer model Optimus that comes with a new LCD component. The older V9 recovery does not have the LCD drivers to control your display. Everything will work, you can press buttons, clear cache, etc., just you will have no visual feedback. You can't start adb shell because /system isn't mounted.
I suggest you follow this thread (skip step 2 since you already have stock recovery)
