lg mobile support tool help

just checking with you guys i trying to upgrade my baseband to vd put everytime i try to use lg update tool it downloads several drivers and then starts "not responding" so ill close it with ctrl alt del. ive even have unistalled and reinstalled it but always the same when i jplug my phone in the lg tool never recognizes my phone. also my is a v9 never updated and rooted with thunderom 1.6.2. after working for several hours trying to get this to work i said screw it and when ahead and tried to update my phone ota to vc but my phone still says v9 and "your phone is up to date" any help would be appreciated
