So I got the Samsung prevail the CPU is a little faster the same everything eles as the S I only traded 10$ worth of moonshine for it but still I absolutely hate this phone their is only a handful of roms for it and most of them are not up to my specs
I would do Dev for it but I gave my laptop to a sick old lady:banghead:
To those that have known my plight with not haveing a pc would ask why......well because I'm a kind hearted dumbass:banghead:

Anyway I have a spare Samsung precedent wich is the EXACT same phone as the prevail I'm willing to mail it to anyone that's willing to port roms from the s over to the prevail
the difference between the s and the prevail is little
the s has a armv6
The prevail has a arm11
The camera is different
they both have a adreno200 gpu
The way it boots to I think is different I'm not 100% sure and input about comparability would be appreciated

The prevail community seems dead
God I wish I just drank the shine instead

.....I love this community the s had jellybean in what seemed like overnight

Optimus s is a good phone
I guess you don't know what you got till its gone

I'm not sure I would agree...if I was in the position for a new phone, I'm not sure I understand why a dev would pick a phone with lower specs to customize. I would think the first pick would be a Nexus phone (I wonder how cheap a used Nexus S 4G goes for...there's solid jellybean ROMs for that phone!)

In retrospective thought....I still hate the prevail....however

Do to its mind numbing low specs and lack of ANY solid roms and just about a total lack of ram
I was real depressed I just lost a PC my opti s died(it was murder) iv learned that boxing yourself in with a crappy phone and no other choice is kinda a learning tool I was forced to fix bugs on my own as development for the prevail is something akin to a dead horse

Anyhow long story short without the ability to flash cool rooms iv had the time to check out some other stuff
As a result I was able to learn
now I can do Java(better) iv learned
HTML(5),CSS(3),JavaScript, and PHP

Now I can do stuff that I couldn't before don't get me wrong I'm still learning but now I understand how and I'm very happy and proud of my new ability(s)

I've been helping out at the LG Viper community recently, but I've dropped development of everything there since I softbricked someone's phones. They recovered it using LGNPST, but I still felt bad, and I've given up on development. It was a great experience, knowing that people looked at you for further development and roms and stuff. I've learned a lot of stuff about creating roms from source, building source trees, and creating apks. I wouldn't mind doing it again, it was a fun experience, no doubt. I can get a device tree set up for you if you wish to persue in the developers side of the forums.

Thank you that would be awesome! Don't be bummed about bricking/wiping/or causeing anyones device to burst into flames its a obvious testimony to your ability to learn new things I to have bricked/fried/deep fried/defiled countless devices in my 20+ years a few in high profile situations where my reputation depended on my success.....and fell short it sucks and its embarrassing I know just how you feel when I'm supposed to be the "electronics specialist with all the fancy education" the "smart one".......I hate it.....but a long time ago I learned that if your a skilled specialist and you don't break it once your not doing it right learning,innovation,progress are all born out of failure

How many programmers get their program to compile successfuly on the first go

Ill bet a dollar to a donut if you ask every android Dev on AC who has made a rom or recovery or heavy mod has bricked 3-5 devices of some poor bastards. IV bricked 2

As a side note, I just picked up an NS4G for 85 in really excelent condition. If you're patient, you can get one for about that.

As for dev for the device in question, I think that porting from another samsung variant would be easier, especially one with a similar hardware build. Keep yer chins up, kids! I'm sure dev is now inbound.

Yes the prevail is a boost mobile but it has a straight talk twin the Samsung galaxy prevail the only difference is a few build prop entries
