I recently became the proud owner of a LG Optimus S after being a crackberry fan for many years.
I've run through all the menus associated with updating the phone, yet I noticed I didnt have the new Swype keyboard. My SW Version is LS670ZV7......after reading some messages on another board I'm told that this version cannot be updated ?!?!?
I'm kind of at a loss about what to do....any suggestions?

According to the sprint guy here: , you're hosed. Take it back and get one with non pre-production FW.

As far as I know, you can flash a custom ROM based off of V9, (either TR1.5 or nROM1.3 will work), but this will not give you the radio update that the V8->V9 upgrade gave, since AFIAK you can't flash radios on this phone yet.

I purchased mine from a digital version of a guy in a long trenchcoat, and even my phone came with v8 (which I could upgrade to v9 via normal firmware update menu). I've never heard of v7 before.

Following this will get you on V8 and also has instructions on how to apply V9. If you purchased it from Sprint then you may want to take it back but if thats not an option ... rooting then following the instructions above should work.

Thanks for the info.....maybe if I start feeling adventurous I may undertake this. Looks like a lot and I don't want to brick the phone.....
I'm still trying to get a straight answer from Sprint about the issue...
