wipe lg optimus S and use it as a tablet

Hi guys,
well, I have an LG Optimus S. I got it from US when I traveled, but 'cause i'm not in the US, it doesn't work in my country because theres not CDMA technology.

Any of you knows how can I wipe the phone and use it as a tablet??... i mena, the phone doesnt show the main screen because it tries to set the data system, but i dont have coverage. can you please tell me what to do to get the phone working without signal??...

(airplane mode doen't work)

Just root it, install CyanogenMod, and then delete the phone app and other stuff that you won't use
