Help with 2.3.6 root

Hello all,

I have been trying for HOURS to get my LG Revo to root. Nothing has worked.
Here's my setup:

VS910 4G
SW Version: VS910ZV8
Macbook Pro (with virtualized Windows 7 also)

I've tried using rageagainstthecage on the mac side through the adb method.
Every single time I run the rage exploit on the phone, it boots me out of shell (as expected). However, my phone then disconnects from adb and refuses to show up again in the devices list. I have also tried this method through the Windows side with the same results.

I've tried the zergRush method through both Mac and Windows sides, and it reports:
[-] Hellions with BLUE flames!
WTF? I know it means it failed.

I've also tried the LG Esteem method of rooting, which fails.
Tried SuperOneClick on both Mac side with mono and Windows side.

Absolutely NOTHING has worked for me.

Could someone please advise?

There is no root as of yet.. there are a few peoples working on it.

Okay sounds good. I got screwed over by this. I was on 2.2.2 V6 FOREVER, and JUST got an update notification this week. I was excited - 2.3.4 would get me rooted! But no, I get 2.3.6 with this V8 crap. TOTALLY missed 2.3.4 rootable. Booo
I'll wait.

If you want this thread will get you V7 firmware - to get to V7 firmware 2.3.4 but multiupload.com appears to be down right now to download some of the components. Maybe the site will be back up tomorrow..

The V8 update itself isn't rooted, but here is a way to keep root from V7 into V8 OTA Update

I flashed back to the v7 2.3.4 tot, and rooted with the LG Esteem "zergrush" exploit - it worked flawlessly!
I didn't lose any of my data, nor did I have to reinstall any apps.

Yeah, they got me to... Tried everything. Saw the suggestion to downgrade to VS910ZV7 and re-root, but how to downgrade wasn't specific. Data Nazis at Verizon got me again....

I use Windows 7 x64. Just downloaded the root package and it didn't work. I had not installed the drivers. I tried to use the driver package that came with this AIO file, but it did not work. I then tried the drivers from and still no luck. Finally, I opened a Windows XP VM, installed the drivers from lgforum, and success! Not saying it does not work with Win7, just that it wasn't working for me for some reason, but good ol' XP worked just fine.
