video call quality

I'm sure this has been brought up already, but I could not find a post on it.
My wife was telling me that when we video chat the picture quality is horrible... Grainy and behind me is fuzzy. She took screen shots and showed me how bad it looks. Now I know reception can play a big part of that. So I tried it on wifi and mobile data in strong areas plus weak areas. No matter what I do it does not get any better.
So my question is... Has anyone else had this problem and want did you do to fix it? Is there an adjustment or is this a defect and I need to return it... I have only had the phone since Sunday afternoon.
Besides that I love this phone!

Wow that's really bad quality. Interestingly enough I haven't tried video calling one time since I had this phone. Are you using Skype or some other service? I'm interested in testing this out myself now. But maybe the issue is app related. Try a few different video chat services to make sure it's not tied to a particular app/service.
