hi
i just bought lg v20 a couple weeks ago and i have a problem with my battery. i had battery drain so i did factory reset and now it's a little bit better than before but still the battery drain fast. for example it shows me that wifi takes lots of battery but i never use wifi and it's off and it shows that android takes lots of battery and and idle. i dont have many applications and sync is off and i closed eveything that i dont need. i get only 1:40-2 hours SoT. any help? maybe why it shows that wifi takes lots of the battery even that it's closed?

thanks!

Screenshots of battery usage would help. Please click on the top 3 or 4 battery usage apps (Wi-Fi, Android system, etc) and post those screenshots as well.

Welcome to Android Central! I agree with tourbound129. Charge up to 100%, then let it drain to 20-30% with normal usage, without charging in between. Then show us:

1. The main Settings>Battery screen.
2. The fullscreen battery graph screen (which shows Awake time and Cell Signal Strength).
3. The Screen category (to see total Screen On time).
4. The Cell Standby category, if present (to see Time Without Signal).

You might have to install a 3rd party battery monitor, like GSam Battery Monitor, to get the Cell Signal Strength graph.

Also, go to Settings>Location, tap Menu, then Scanning, and make sure Wi-fi Scanning is turned off. This setting might be somewhere else in your system settings, because it varies with the device.

Have you checked for that wi-fi scanning option?

yeah i checked. wifi and location is all off and on Gsam it says 0% on wifi usage but it seems like the phone stay awake even when screen is off according to Gsam

edit:
ohh now i found that bluetooth and wifi scanning while wifi is off was turned on. it can work even when location is off? i'll see how's the battery now and if i have problems i'll write

I didn't know that wifi can still scan while it is off. Maybe try Airplane mode?

The reason for the wi-fi scanning is to "Improve Accuracy" (which means that whenever an app asks you if you want to Improve Accuracy and you say yes, it will do this, along with turning on your GPS radio). The phone will use nearby wi-fi networks to improve your location accuracy (I think by using the physical MAC addresses of those routers). It's not supposed to be a significant battery drain, but I think it can be for some people.

Although the cell signal strength looks fine at the time those screenshots were taken, it'd still be good to see what it's like over the span of a whole battery charge. Look for the screen in Settings>Battery that shows the cell signal strength over time, or install GSam Battery Monitor, which has that graph.

There should be a graph in GSam that superimposes the cell signal strength over the battery level -- can you show us that?

Do you only have 3G reception, or is there also 4G? If you have 4G, but the phone often only shows 3G, that could suggest weak 4G in your area, which might also contribute to battery drain, as the phone has to keep switching back and forth between 3G and 4G.

I routinely turn off mobile data overnight (since the only thing I need from the phone while I'm sleeping is to receive any emergency calls or texts), so that's one way to reduce overnight drain.

i can't find the graph. do you know where is it? i have 4G here but it switches to H sometimes but on the level bar i have good signal on both of them. the weird thing is that when 3G data turned off i dont have battery drain i think but when 3G data is on i lose a lot no matter if the screen is on or off and as to Gsam it shows that the phone is awake most of the time. you see something wierd with doze information maybe?

When you have GSam open you'll see a icon toward the bottom, to the left of what looks like a vacuum. Click on that, then go to the phone signal and you'll see the graph that B. Diddy is speaking of.

Thanks for the guidance, onnad!

Gal elias, do you mean that the battery only drains excessively when it shows it's connected to 3G, and not 4G LTE?

thanks! i charged the phone so i'll post later the Gsam graph. i wasnt specific to 3G or 4G i mean when im connected to carrier data the battery drains but when i turn it off i lose something like 1% after 9 hours

edit:
here are the pictures now

now i lost like 3% over the night when Data was off so i guess maybe it's not the problem
