    Search the universe for Java 7
    (If it's still called universe)

    Yeah, the Android source doesn't play well with Java 7

    Just run these commands:

    wget https://raw.github.com/thenameisnige...er/oab-java.sh
    chmod a+x oab-java.sh
    ./oab-java.sh

    That'll get Java downloaded and running for ya.

    Following this Getting Started: Building Android From Source | XDA-University + add the zvi files to the same folder as the repo. Will it work?

    yeah. nm. pullin' the plug on this project. thanks for the help, however i learned the method to rooting zvk. if anyone is interested in my help for testing or compiling. i have minimal exp. but the necessary tools for it. if anyone is interested my final build brought the infamous legacy tag error. and the .mk files were all optional except one. i changed it and got a new error about hard module something or other....ANYWAYS* peace for now.

    Dude, I just realized the repo you posted earlier has instructions. Not even instructions I made up, instructions straight from LGE's open source website.

    1. You're using the CyanogenMod source tree, go AOSP. It clearly says it in the repo.
    2. You're building for the Sony Xperia Ion (Aoba). Just because they use the same chipset doesn't mean they have the same kernel config.

    Just for clarification, I re-posted LGE's instructions:

    1. Kernel Build (User) -
    Unzip LS840_Kernel_ZVI.tar.gz at the android folder
    When you compile the kernel source code, you have to add google original prebuilt source (Nigel Edit: USE AOSP) into the android folder.
    $ . build/envsetup.sh
    $ choosecombo 1 generic user - Build kernel
    $ cd kernel
    $ mkdir -p out
    $ make cayman_sprint_us_defconfig ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=arm-eabi- O=out
    $ make ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=arm-eabi- O=out
    After Build, You Can find the build image at /out/arch/arm/boot
    Ima take a shot on this, I'll put up the results.
    -----------------------------------------------------------
    Alright don't laugh I'm still a noob at this, but I'm getting an error when running 'repo init' here's a pastebin. http://pastebin.com/AGpcTc3r

    New questions; integrating kernal possible with locked bootloader? If so, would baseing gb work? What files should i look for specifically ? is sdk the best resource for kernel enhancement? Will 15 gb cover the entire process (50gb with aosp/env. Currently.)? If i create a github account, will i then be able to git clone the neccesary kernal sources'? Is a jelly bean a fruit?

    Jelly beans are gross little sugar and gelatine candies. So yes. They are fruits.
