I rooted it today it was easy enough and that app ur talking about should allow it to be rooted. It uses the same exploit i did. But if you do get it working or if anyone else has as well has anyone got wireless hotspot to work ?

The rageagainstthecage exploit should work just the same on this device as it does the optimus 1, optimus S, optimus T, and the soon to be released optimus U. Verizon named your phone differently but your still an optimus to me

Also, try using the hotspot widget exploit described in the Optimus S thread before you use anything else. The wireless tethering app has been known to cause wifi issues with these devices where as by using the widget method, you don't get those wifi issues. - 01-27-2011, 08:54 AM #5
You are speaking such a strange language here. What is the "Rage against the cage"? I am having trouble in that I want to...a) Get rid of the crappy apps and trial versions of games, etc.b)figure out why even though I have a huge sd card my phone will only load apps internally and then say it is too full. Any links or help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Mark

I, too, have been having trouble. I just got my LGVortex, and z4Root hasn't worked
I'm new to all of this, first android phone, trying to get it to "tether" to my iPad, since I am NOT paying $100 for the 3G model +$30 a month just for 1 device.
I am very new to all this and would greatly appreciate any help that may be provided.Last edited by Saffron; 01-31-2011 at 02:01 PM.

I rooted my wife's phone without problems using superoneclick and rageagainsthecage, but I got one for myself and this one is giving me issues with that process. Therefore, I decided to try downgrading it and I continue to get an error about version number h0x0 or something like that. I am not currently at my home system so I can't say what the error is exactly right now. Anyone have any idea what this is all about?
There is one other thing I noticed. MS690.dll is not in the package that technoheads links to for download. Where do I get this file?Last edited by Fward1208; 02-24-2011 at 12:03 PM.

please read above.
For everyone else who is trying to root this phone, please try following the Optimus S rooting guides. My roommate just got a vortex and i'm on an optimus S, so where possible i'll try to start helping you this device along. I'll need a few days but so far the biggest difference between the two phones, that i've noticed, is the home and menu buttons being in opposite places. I'll probably end up starting a new thread over the next few days and keeping this device up with CM7 at least and maybe some of the other roms. - 04-18-2011, 06:31 PM #19
so i didn't get as much time to play with it today as i thought i was going to get, but this phone is funny/messed up. what ever you do DO NOT PRESS HOME-VOLDOWN-POWER, you'll loose everything on your phone. so some bigger changes are starting to creep their way in. when the phone ends up in my lap again later tonight i'll start a new thread and actually start playing with this but for now have fun.

Re: LG Vortex Root
Can someone tell me how to change the clock or system time of the phone on the vortex? Does it need to be rooted in order to do so? I've crawled all over the settings, date / time, clock, whatever you name it even after putting it in airplane mode I still cannot figure out a way to manually change the time / date. Would rooting the phone enable me to do this though?
I don't know if anyone is still monitoring this thread, and I don't know if i care that much about "rooting" the phone per say given I've never rooted a phone in my life, don't want to take the chance of bricking mine or loosing all my apps...
However I'm madly infused with a game (paradise Island) and I've basically reached an impass with it and the only way around it is to spend real money (which I am not going to do), walk away (which I don't want to do) or find a way to change the system time which if i do will make time pass much more quickly, enabling me to do what I need to do.
I have the android 2.2.2 running on it right now and would apreciate any input on rooting or more importantly if this is required for me to update the system time and if not how I go about doing that.
Thanks much!!
