It was a PITA but what do you guys think about starting one here?
Agreed... This has become a great resource for apps that aren't really mainstream... The "Top 5" thread is good, but it tends to point to duplicates and apps a lot of people already know about... This one is more of a "hey, I found a great new app" thread that really increases the chance of a small developer with a really good idea to become successful...

Having them all in a list would be great, but would be a lot of work...

If anybody wants to start one ill be more than happy to sticky it. Keep in mind this person needs to be able to update it frequently which takes a lot out of you if your busy. Trust me I know. I have a rom thread for the droid and its hard to find time to update it and moderate the forum.

I suggest PicRoulette for the best app no one knows about, but I'm a bit biased.

For Setting Profiles? Quite a bit. Let me give you a rundown, buy there is a free version that limits you to one profile (so you can play with it)

Across the top there are 4 "tabs", which I'll go through below. It's recommended you go through them from left to right (Profiles, then Rules, then Locations, and finally Tools)

Profiles (I'm hoping they add a 4G toggle but they haven't yet)
  • Wifi on/off
  • BlueTooth on/off
  • Airplane Mode on/off
  • Silent Mode on/off (all sounds except media and alarms)
  • Ringer Volume
  • Media Volume
  • In-Call Volume
  • Alarm Volume
  • System Volume
  • Phone Ringtone
  • Vibrate for Calls on/off
  • Vibrate for notifications on/off
  • Notification Ringtone
  • Pulse Notification Light on/off
  • Audible touch tones on/off
  • Audible selection on/off
  • Speakerphone on/off
  • Wallpaper
  • Orientation flip on/off
  • Brightness
  • Screen Timeout
  • Unlock Pattern on/off
  • Auto-Sync on/off
  • Enable GPS Satellites on/off
Rules (contains conditions and Actions)
-- Conditions (also has option for Inverse Conditions)
  • Time Period (time of day)
  • Schedule Period (every x minutes/hours for so long)
  • Calendar Keywords (can pick which calendar)
  • Location
  • Incoming Call
  • Missed Call
  • Unread Text/SMS
  • Battery (includes Any Charger, AC, USB, discharging, and "less than")
  • Wired Headset Attached
  • Connected BT Device
  • Connected to WiFi
  • Docking State
  • Profile Status
-- Actions
  • Activate Profile
  • Run Applicaton
  • Notify
  • Pause
Locations
  • Lat/Lon Identified
  • Wi-Fi AP Identified
Tools
  • Backup and Restore
  • Status Bar Shortcut on/off
  • Debug Log
  • Cells Threshold (number of cells in a row to trigger location (GSM only)
  • Lat/Lon Updates period
  • Watchdog Period (restarts if it stops for some reason)

I will say it is a bit complicated since you can stack profiles and actions, but it works really well. Also has a widget that I keep on my home screen so I can quickly toggle profiles manually if I want to. You can define which profiles show up in the widget (to only display those you would want to manually change). So for example, I have a location one based off of work, but if I have a meeting, I flip on my "In a Meeting" profile that silences all media/sounds/notifications/ringers. Also use that for the restroom stall so I can play games and stuff while in there

Good Morning: I've been playing around with this one for a few days, it's an awesome alarm app called Good Morning, you can set it to read outloud custom text, the weather report for your area, play a song, a bunch of different alarms noises, and even tell you the temperature in Kelvins. And it's got snooze! Best alarm I've found on Android yet.

Looks like the dev released a pay version in the last day or two that adds in the ability to read calendar entries. Haven't tried that out yet, but they've been adding features and doing bug fixes fairly regularly since I first discovered it a couple of weeks ago.

I could've used this the other day... A few birds on the river that I couldn't identify the other day... The Bald Eagle was unmistakable though and really cool to see... $10 for this app? Is it worth it?

I think it is - I paid $20 for the pro version when I had my iPod and anything to help encourage the developer to bring other versions to Android I'm all for....

iBird Yard still has 234 birds in it....and I believe iBird Pro has closer to 1000...
