+2 for poweramp. A little expensive but they have a free trial to see if you like it or not.

Subsonic for it's streaming abilities but it lacks a lock screen widget.

I just use the stock music player but after reading some of the responses in this thread, I'm going to shop around a bit. Hopefully I can find something that will not take up a lot of space.

PlayerPro
The best music player on Android is without any doubt Music PlayerPro! I tried PowerAmp, mixzing, cubed, lythium, but it's definitely the best! It has many features (tag editor, artist and album art grabber, many browsing types, lyrics, several different playlists, and many more...). It also has 5 home screen widgets and 2 lock screen widgets. It is a very customizable app, you can pick between 9 different skins! The last release is absolutely great, it includes song ratings!
It's the must for Android! - 12-29-2010, 10:56 PM #213
I usually just use the stock HTC sense music app. It works well enough for what I use it for. Im not sure what others use their music apps for but the HTC one plays songs which is pretty much all I need it to do...playlists are easy enough to edit or create on the fly too. I guess I've never found the need or had the desire to go with something else...

After downloading PowerAmp, my iPod Touch 4th gen has been collecting dust. I also have my Evo paired with my Logitech wireless speakers so I can play Pandora or use Remote for iTunes to play music from anywhere in my house!

I really like Pandora as Slacker would never finish a son while driving, always buffering.

PlayerPro is by far the best player. The last release places it far in front of all other players. The UI is professional and beautiful.
The new audio effects are simply amazing: equalizer, stereo widening, reverb effects, bass boost ... no other player offers these features and quality.
In addition it has also ratings, lyrics, album/artist bio ... no other player supports it. And trust me I've tested all of them, including poweramp. PlayerPro is way superior. - 04-26-2011, 12:45 PM #220

IMO, especially considering the latest update bringing crossfade, PowerAmp is it.

Re: AC Asks: What's your favorite music player
All my music is already tagged so...
Music Beta for streaming what I don't want on my sd card.
PowerAMP for its equalizer and reliable performance. Its a little hardware hungry but it sounds the best when playing over bluetooth in my car. - 07-13-2011, 03:29 PM #224
Re: AC Asks: What's your favorite music player
I've used Google's player, Meridian, Songbird, MortPlayer, AMP, PlayerPro, and WinAmp.
My current favorites are Amazon MP3 and Just Playlists Plus. These app seem to be simpler than most of the other players. I listen to a lot of music, but couldn't care less about twitter/facebook/google+ integration or equalizers, album art or tag editing.Last edited by exalaskan; 07-13-2011 at 08:57 PM.
