    I had the same issue, kept saying "device not compatible" I had my friend plug his Iphone in and that worked instantly. Turns out the installer needed to hook up a 2nd usb wire. USB 1 (which is probably what you're trying to plug your phone into) is only for Apple products and firmware updates...
