I don't believe you can hide the icons on a non-rooted G3 But if you do root, then download Xposed Installer and G3 Tweaksbox and customize as needed

Tried fortyquid's suggestion about disconnecting wifi then rebooting but still no internet connection (3G). Would it be advisable to do a factory reset from within recovery (COT) and just wipe everything before trying to reinstall this ROM?
