Just recently updated the n7 to 5.1.1 and I'm pleased with the results.
I'm ready to flash 5.1.1 on the n4 which is stock ROM and kernel but rooted (to hide the soft keys and for greenify) but before I flash it I want to know if anyone updated theirs yet and was able to root via CF method (or...
Updated to 5.1.1 via OTA recently (lazy to flash factory image this time) and at first it was bad with slow app switching, etc.
So I decided to factory data reset the n7 and everything is as good as new; actually better with 5.1.1 improvements.
*wifi nakasi 8gb, unlocked but with stock Google...
I was going to wait few days to post a review but wow! My initial impression is that 5.1 is really good!
I might not need to flash a different kernel and just keep everything stock. And I haven't experienced a random reboot so far like I did with 5.0.2. (*Knock on wood)
BTW, for some reason...
just flashed that factory image and waiting for android to upgrade
*update, bootloader wouldn't flash so I skipped it since it shared the same 4.23 as the one from 5.0.2; I also skipped flashing userdata too
the 2012 Nexus 7 got the Factory Image posted before the 2013 version, so we can assume it will roll out to the 2013 Nexus 7 and the Nexus 4 soon :D
*crossing my fingers*
Fresh off AgentJuicy's BBMC (C000107DA)!
this could be a hoax but i'm personally a fan of 'normal' sized smartphones and not phablets, and this would be a welcome return for nexus devices...made by Sony, Sony camera, 2015 specs, and big battery!
After flashing the 5.0.2 factory image without a hitch (also unlocked, rooted with custom recovery basically for greenify), the n7 was way more usable with great battery life (more or less 8 hours mixed use and almost 0% battery drain on deep sleep) than on KitKat but still suffered some...
Just got an n7 recently and didn't bother with KitKat. Flashed the factory image of 5.0.2, and was quite pleased with the performance. But as soon as I started running certain background apps, started experiencing crippling hangups. But as soon as I force closed those apps, it was back to being...
just got a Grouper recently and flashed nakasi, and I'm pretty impressed with this little device! it runs lollipop quick and smooth, and i've yet to play games on it yet but is it recommended to overclock the cpu & gpu?
You got a great deal, now just get a proper case (like the official bumper), update to 5.0, and you'll be good to go.
To get LTE, you will need to root. HSPA+ is actually not bad if you're in a good coverage area.
