    Strange screen issue

I had the same thing happen to me on my 2-week old 5a. The proximity sensor wasn't detecting near/far events properly. I confirmed this with an app that showed various sensor data. Rebooting the phone seems to have solved this for me.

Google Customer Support- A nightmare in Action

Fi support said this was a Google Store issue and bounced my case to them. Store tried half-heartedly to help then said it was Fi and bounced it back to Fi. Fi support's latest instructions was to activate Fi before using the promotion, which may likely make me ineligible for the promotion...

Google Customer Support- A nightmare in Action

Support advised clicking through to get the 3-month promo. I tried that but the promo code wasn't present in my cart when checking out. I'll keep bugging them.

Google Customer Support- A nightmare in Action

I just picked up a 5a and am seeing the same problem with this promotion with my account. When I select the "Get a new number" option, I'm told the promotion is invalid. Did you do or say anything special with support to get this working? I'd like to compare Fi to my current service with...

    Strava app shortcuts

Any Strava users here? If so, do app shortcuts work on your Pixel 3? You know, where you long press the app icon and a list of quick actions are displayed. Strava shortcuts work on Moto E4 Plus, G7 Power and my GF's Pixel 2 but not on my Pixel 3. I'm using the stock launcher. Strava support...

Gesture Navigation + GBoard in one-handed mode problem

Force stopping Gboard fixes this issue for me. However, the one-handed keyboard becomes "stuck" at a higher position if I try to manually resize it reposition it.

Gesture Navigation + GBoard in one-handed mode problem

Pixel 3, Android 10 With Gesture Nav enabled and GBoard in one-handed mode, there is a good amount of padding between the bottom of the keyboard and the lower edge of the screen. I've submitted feedback to Google regarding this issue. Anyone else seeing this?

    Sim card swap scam

Aren't you still vulnerable to a social engineered attack where a thief could contact your provider and convince them that "you" want to start using a physical SIM? Or does the eSIM make this impossible? I'm thinking of making the switch to Fi and going with an eSIM. Also, I was giving...

Find Events older than 1 year

I think so, but some may prefer using the app. Irrelevant now but at the time I used the work-around, I don't recall the mobile calendar site being useful, or available at all. Currently, it's a bit of an eyestrain since it's so tiny (using small display size and small fonts on a Pixel 3).

Find Events older than 1 year

A work-around I've used in the past can be found here: https://forums.androidcentral.com/google-pixel-2-pixel-2-xl/867939-old-events-not-showing-google-calendar.html#post6156695 I'm not sure if it still works or not and the risk for data loss is still there. Proceed with appropriate caution.

Find Events older than 1 year

Calendar app does have a search function in the hamburger menu.

Samsung Galaxy Fold. Who is picking one up?

It's "fire is hot" obvious and I would question the aesthetic sense of anyone to whom it wasn't. (wait, is that good grammar? I just confused myself.)

Samsung Galaxy Fold. Who is picking one up?

Bold statement. I wonder if the designers and users of Google Glass or that awful N-Gage felt like they were "making history" as well.

Samsung Galaxy Fold. Who is picking one up?

The Fold is an aesthetic and functional disaster. The incredible obviousness of this makes criticisms and complaints about the design a moot point. The notch on the 3XL is still ugly, so don't worry. :P

Apps started auto-updating since March update

It's rare but I've done this before. QuickPic and Weather Timeline were a couple that I declined to update after these apps were acquired by new owners. Recently, I declined to update Pocket Casts that removed a feature I used. So yeah, it happens.
