I am new to all this but recently flashed to cm12.1 because of the same reasons. LG bloat. You can enable or disable root in developer options. I also installed cyandelta which as it's name suggests downloads only the delta files and installs them (needs root). Definitely recommend this...

I have had the same thing and it was driving me mad but I discovered that the LG backup is stopping the service every time it runs. So I changed the schedule of the back up to 2 weeks and only get annoyed twice a month now. :)
