I just came back from Europe and did this, worked great. One thing I learned: there are no "places" on the cached map, e.g. restaurants, museums, etc. But, if you "star" places when you have a signal, they will still be there when you're offline. Can be very usefull.

Not much help here except to say that I've noticed the same thing. Has also happened while listening to Dogcatcher. Although for me the jumps have not been huge, not enough to hurt my ears. And it's gone up and down. Also running stock, but rooted. Used an app called Equalizer, but it didn't...

How big of a country? You could manually just select all the area you need separately with a little overlap ....

I thought this was happening to me, but I was accidentally hitting both the volume down and power button at the same time either while picking up the phone or snapping it into a car dock ... seems like that functionality got more sensitive after the update since it never happened before. Are...

Second the a-GPS update. I had this problem when I first got my phone, downloaded the app, GPS Test, with the intention of doing an a-GPS update. However, I just opened the app, it found several satellites, got my location, and the problem has been fixed ever since.

I'm rooted too, and have tried forcing the sync several times :( EDIT: I found an answer, went to app management and cleared data for the app called "Contact storage", then forced the sync, and all seems to be good.

I also have my phone encrypted (had to for enterprise access at work), I had my phone for a few weeks unencrypted before that - no issues at all for me. I rooted before encrypting, and there have been no issues for any apps that require root access.

I had this problem and found a post suggesting to install "GPS Test". You can use it to reset your GPS info (don't know the official terms here). But I just let it run, get a good signal, and my GPS on the phone has worked great ever since! Here's a link to the market page...
