Anyone else's power button starting to get flakey?

First-day Verizon GS3 user here--If I just straight-up press the power button on the first try it'll almost always turn off and then flick back on immediately. Same thing when the screen is off--if I turn it on, it'll flick on and then straight off again. If I wake it with the home button, it'll...

For those who are let down...

Maybe a lot of it was wishcasting, but there was at least reasonable expectations of both. Both the Galaxy Nexus and the Nexus 4 were very modestly priced off-contract, and there was reason to think Google would continue pushing that pricing model through Motorola. Hindsight is 20/20 and all...

For those who are let down...

Let me rephrase: I didn't expect carrier bloatware, and we had reason to expect it would be basically stock, with small modifications like always-on voice recognition. There's a qualitative difference between bloatware and what we had heard in leaks. And reasonable probably means 400 or less...

For those who are let down...

What did I expect? Anything other than this. This is a joke. I expected stock Android at a reasonable price. Instead we got bloatware at a high-end price.

Moto X : Price Tag is NOT Surprising

This. Nokia got it. They priced their recent offerings at 100 on contract. This thing is a joke at 200 with a 2 year contract.

What would stop you from buying the Moto X?

This. We're hitting a point of diminishing returns in terms of CPU and RAM performance--everything basically works well. Price and battery life are starting to matter more to me than anything else. Maybe a better camera, but even then most phones come with a good enough camera. I'm done chasing...

What would stop you from buying the Moto X?

300 dollars off contract. I'm done with top of the line specs. I want a high-quality phone and stock Android. And I want to keep my unlimited data on Verizon. Who cares about top of the line anymore? My GS3 does everything I need it to quite well still, I just want real stock Android, not...

What would stop you from buying the Moto X?

Basically nothing. Unless it's not available off contract on Verizon at the same price point as other carriers. Going to replace my Verizon GS3.

    HTC is crumbling from within

HTC in disarray: staff departures, 'disastrous' First, and production problems cloud company's future | The Verge And this is exactly why I didn't buy a One. You aren't buying just a phone, you're buying the premise that HTC can continue to maintain it for two years, and that HTC will even last...

LastPass is amazing. The app is embarrassing

Can we as a community try to get LastPass to try to fix the damn app? It looks like something that was excreted during the Cupcake era of Android. Functionally it's fine-ish, it works, it just looks so bad I don't want to use it. I've been holding off on LastPass Premium hoping for a better app...

    Paying Full Price

I've got a GS3 with unlimited data. Honestly, the Google edition of the GS4 is making me think I need to switch to AT&T or T-Mobile and pay full price for the Google edition. Wasn't planning on upgrading from my GS3 at all, much less leaving Verizon.

    Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition

The only reason why Touchwiz roms are more stable on the S3 is because they are full compatible. AOSP on the S3 is a hackjob. AOSP on the Google S4 will be as stable, if not more so, than Touchwiz on the S4. How can you even take anything called Touchwiz seriously?
  13. T

Any reason to get this in the US, instead of the carrier versions?

The reason to go for the developer edition is pretty simple. AOSP is never exactly perfect, try as the devs do.

    Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition

Yeah, I had no real interest in upgrading from my GS3, but now.. Doesn't matter though. Verizoned.
