No, safe mode disables all 3rd party apps. I just tried it to try and rule out 3rd party apps and it was confirmed. I'm going to try what Javier P suggested.

I had the same problem. I went into Safe Mode and the problem went away. It must be some 3rd party app. I'm still trying to troubleshoot this. Todd Posted via the Android Central App

Facebook contacts are now being synced through the Messenger app.

I realize that Android kills apps when RAM is needed, but I think it is excessive for my RAM usage to be between 70 and 90 percent most of the time, especially when using a memory management app. Is this normal? Is performance degraded at this high of usage? Todd Pierpoint Samsung Galaxy S4

There is a known issue on Android 4.2.2 with excessive battery drain with Google Services when Wi-Fi & mobile network location is enabled. Does anybody know if Android 4.3 resolves this? I can't believe that Google will not use Standalone GPS services if Wi-Fi & mobile network location is...

My problem was solved by removing the Google Now widget from one of the home screens.
