Update: Factory reset didn't fix really fix it either, unfortunately. The phone boots up more often now, but after several tries I could still never get it to stay on long enough to finish Android setup before it crashed back into a boot loop again. Guess I'll be getting a new phone - luckily...

Strangely (to me), on very rare occasions it does boot all the way up, but hasn't yet gone long enough for me to do anything before crashing again. This was the case before flashing the firmware as well.

So, after half an hour of that, without even being able to get into the recovery menu, I flashed it over again...same thing, except after five minutes it sent me to the recovery menu. This was printed at the bottom: I wiped the cache partition, and now it's back in the same Samsung logo boot...

Okay so, I flashed it and got a PASS! in Odin, but now the phone is stuck in a loop of "RECOVERY BOOTING..." to "Installing system update" to "Error!" when the progress bar reaches 32%. Is there something I should do to try to fix this other than a factory reset? Does it suggest a specific problem?

Awesome - thank you so much! Sounds like I'd be SOL several times over without your help. Downloading now. Hopefully whatever's wrong will be fixed by this...we'll find out soon. Even if I can boot successfully just once to get the data off before still having to do a factory reset for some...

Great. Some tutorials online seemed to say you have to have USB Debugging enabled first.

Oh, I see it now - thanks. I did look there, but I guess I must have been looking at the CSC version instead of the AP version.

Is it going to be a problem if the phone never had USB Debugging enabled in the Android developer settings?
