I turned on the Kyocera Hydro for the first time in 2 months and it updated everything for over an hour including a large Kyocera firmware update.

Anyone know what it was? Supposedly an update to a latest version of Android, but it's still only on 4.0.4 ICS.

I am running a 4.1.2 with the Kyocera hydro from the update ... did you go to
Settings
Scroll to bottom until you see update phone
Then click update firmware
You may have downloaded the firmware update but you may not have installed it

Thanks, I'll check again. I thought it installed. It took forever to download, and then I was pretty sure in installed. It said "installing". But I will check it again. It's pretty cool that they updated the humble Hydro. :)

Well I tried that. It starts looking for an update and then says "network is busy, try later". :-/ The Hydro is challenging in so many ways. It's cute though.

About an hour ago, I chatted online with Support at Kyocera's website. I asked what is the latest version of Android available for the Hydro. The answer was 4.0.4, which is the version that was already on my Hydro when I bought it last week.

You might want to chat there yourself to verify:
Kyocera Phones Support Page

Perhaps the "update" you saw was a sign that your phone is infected with malware. For example, consider the following news article from mid-2013:
New Android Vulnerability Affects 99 percent of Devices | Malwarebytes Unpacked

Best wishes.

Thanks. No, no malware on my devices. I'm not sure what the updates were. The Kyocera is long since deactivated and used only on WiFi, but it was updated the same week as the LG870, different manufacturer and currently activated on BM.

Ha that's 'funny'!! I've had my Hydrolife phone for about 6 months now and when I try to 'Update' the Firmware, I get the same exact message that you're getting!
Does that mean that there's a glitch and it will most likely never get fixed and we'll never be able to Update our precious Firmware?! Lol
Really though, I'd be quite happy if I could give my phone a little Update once in a while. Any help or suggestions are most certainly welcome! Thanx. ~ D.E.
