Default Samsung I5500 Corby Galaxy 5

I have been looking for an android 2.2 device and I stumbled upon the Samsung I5500. I don't plan on using this for a phone but just for wifi access. Is there anyone that has done this? Is it possible to just use the wifi and not activate the phone? I know that the screen is small but I want something small and it has alot of features that I like.

Well I'm one of the user of the phone you stated (but asian version which is i5503) and yes you can use it as a WiFi only phone without a SIM card in it (if you plan not using one otherwise you can just disable the SIM from charging for data usage). For earlier shipment, I saw there's a bit bug for the WiFi but it should be fine right now since Samsung has updated them.

i compared an imported version of this to the t mobile comet (from the states) and though the samsung looks a lot better and polished, theres a good chance you might not have access to the android market. just make sure its a domestic version.

the t mobile comet comes with stock 2.2 and isnt really that bad for a phone thatll cost you about 120 bux without a contract. the screen isnt the most prettiest thing ive seen, but it works fine without multi-touch capabilities. its a solid phone.
