Welcome to Android Central! Try booting into Safe Mode, which temporarily disables all 3rd party apps. On most Android devices, while powered on, press and hold Power until the Power Off menu appears. Press and hold the Power Off selection until the Safe Mode prompt appears. Tap OK.

If the problem disappears in Safe Mode, then something you installed is causing the problem. You may have to uninstall apps one by one until the problem disappears. If the problem persists in Safe Mode, then it's more likely to be a hardware or firmware problem.

Re: how to fix "unfortunely launcher3 has stopped working" on indigi phone/tablet?

What was the problem on my Xperia Z1 Compact was that I had (deliberately) inactivated the Google Now launcher, the one firing up Google Now when you slide the Home-button. Once I reactivated it, the issue stopped recurring entirely. This was unexpected, since the issue arose randomly, not at all connected to when I slid the home-button.
P.S. To then not have Google Now start when I accidentally slid the Home-button, I installed an app stopping it, and it's been working great ever since :) D.S.
