Why won't a text message download?

I have an LG phone on T-Mobile. My youngest daughter is on my account with me, using a Samsung phone. My older daughter is using an iphone on AT&T. Upon occasion, text messages from them, and others will not download. Sometimes, if I restart my phone, the text will then download, but sometimes that does not work.

Welcome to Android Central! Is your reception usually good? If reception is spotty, you might not receive a text message until the signal improves enough.
