Android Pattern Lock Not Being Shown

My Android pattern lock isn't working. I have set one up, but when I lock my screen, there is a small lock icon at the bottom center of my lock screen that I can swipe up to activate the pattern and have it be shown, but the pattern isn't automatically there already. When I lock my screen, it initially shows the icon at the bottom, but you can just swipe across the screen and a water-like thing will appear and you can immediately unlock my phone without having to go through a pattern. I'd stick with this, but I'm worried I'd forget to swipe up that lock icon every time I lock my phone and someone would be able to open my phone since the pattern wouldn't have been activated manually by me. I have a Samsung Galaxy Prime.

Did you made an change in lock screen settings when will the pattern lock will activate?
Check if it is not immediately when screen turns off. If not change to this.

Not working? Ask samsung to get a better answer.
