Why can't I transfer music to my Moto E?

why cant i transfer music to my moto e

i try to to transfer music to my moto e and it starts off but then stops and it waits for ages then says device is unresponsive and it disapears off screen then i have to unplug cable and plug in again to see mobile on my computer

Welcome to Android Central! How are you transferring the music? Using Windows Explorer to drag and drop? What file format are the music files in, and how big are they?

it varies from 6 mb to 80mb and mp3 format it starts off then stops and then moto e comes unresponsive

Ok, and are you using Windows Explorer to transfer the files directly to the SD card, or into the Internal Storage? If it's the SD card, the card itself might be the problem. Try a different card. Or try transferring the music to the card while the card is directly inserted into the computer's SD reader. Make sure you Unmount the card before removing it from the phone (in Settings>Storage​).

tried that and songs can be transferred to card but show up as having no mbs when inserted back into mobile. think mobile and card not working together
