    When does the battery saver start working and what does it actually do?

    If it is like the Moto X, it will kick in at about 15%, and limit internet connections.

    It is the same (it's actually a Moto Assist app feature - you can't switch it on if Assist is disabled/removed) - Restricts Background Data once the battery hits 15%.
